Privacy Awareness Week 2022

The Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is an annual gathering of data privacy practitioners and professionals, celebrated through Proclamation No. 527 series of 2018. Every year, experts share practices, theories and programs that will help boost data privacy and protection compliance in the Philippines and increase awareness among Personal Information Controllers (PICs) and Personal Information Processors (PIPs). This year, #PAW2022 will focus on the owners of the personal data we are protecting, the data subjects!

With the theme “Ang PAWer ng Data Privacy Mo: Praktikal, Angkop, at Wastong Paggamit ng Datos ni Juan at Juana,” the National Privacy Commission (NPC) wants to further raise awareness among Filipinos on the importance of their data privacy and the #PAWer it has.

Through this year’s PAW celebration, NPC wants to convey to ordinary Filipinos that there is power in their personal data and data privacy rights.

5 ways to celebrate PAW (FOR DATA SUBJECTS)

Knowledge should always be applied for it to make a difference.

I-call out ang nakikitang data privacy violations at maling practices, online at offline!

Gamitin din ang official facebook banner ng #PAW2022 na madodownload sa PAW website to show your friends that you’re a data privacy advocate.

5 ways to celebrate PAW (FOR PICS & PIPS)

First thing you need to do as you begin your data privacy journey is to know what exactly data privacy means, especially for new PICs and PIPs. Start by looking for resources or visiting our website and social media pages for helpful guides and knowledge materials.

Letting your customers know your purpose is important for PICs and PIPs. Inform them your data privacy policies and security measures by publishing the same in your offices, website and official platforms, or translating them to digestible contents like graphics and social media posts.

Talk to your employees about your programs and initiatives in line with the DPA. You can also set-up online sessions and sharing to raise their awareness on data privacy.

Launch your own PAW celebration! You may use our Privacy Awareness Week 2022 materials, such as banners and posts, on your official social media platforms to show that you are one with NPC in celebrating PAW this year.

Conduct an online or offline activity to engage your management and employees. Remember: the goal is to create advocates and build a culture of data privacy!
